It is difficult for a newcomer to hydroponics to build an indoor hydroponic system from scratch. However, there are now a variety of compact hydroponic systems that are simple to operate and assemble. Tina Edwards, a marketing manager at AeroGarden, will be my guest to discuss the benefits of pre-made hydroponic garden systems.
Tina became a member of the AeroGarden team in 2018. , a self-contained hydroponic system, takes out the guesswork and mystery of setting up an indoor garden. Tina says Aerogarden was on the market in various iterations for 17 years but hit its stride between 2017 and 2018. Aerogarden was a hit in 2020 when indoor and home-based hobbies became more popular.
The outdoor gardening season in the United States is ending or will soon end with the arrival of November. Many gardeners are interested in bringing their hobby inside for food, not just houseplants. Hydroponic systems, such as AeroGarden, are a great option.
AeroGardens are also an excellent way to introduce gardening to beginners and those who need more space or light to garden outdoors.
I encourage people just to get started. You don’t need to worry if you aren’t ready yet. Just get started and learn as you go. AeroGarden, on the other hand, is a foolproof way to get started gardening.
Roger Sadowski was a student of my Online Gardening Academy (TM) and a hydroponic gardener . I invited him to join me on the podcast earlier this year to discuss hydroponic gardening. The primer was great, but there’s still a lot to learn. Many “The Joe Gardener Show” viewers have told me they’ve had success hydroponically gardening with Aerogarden.
Tina: “I want everyone to enjoy the excitement of seeing a seed grow. “There’s nothing better than going into bed with nothing in your AeroGarden and waking up the next morning to find six little plants popping out of their heads. It’s the best feeling. “I’m willing to do anything we can to make this happen for everyone worldwide.”
Before I continue with Tina’s conversation about indoor hydroponically growing and AeroGardens, I want to remind you of my new book, ” The Vegetable Gardening Guide: Your Complete Guide to Growing an Edible Organic Garden from Seed to Harvest.” This book is chock-full of further information and insider tips that will help you improve your gardening skills and overcome challenges.
Organic Vegetable Gardening, my new Online Gardening Academy (TM) Premium Course, is scheduled for release in 2023. Register for the waitlist.
Why Tina Is a Fan
Tina, originally from Arizona, has lived in Boulder, Colorado, where Aerogarden’s headquarters is located, for around 12 years. She joined Aerogarden’s marketing department in 2018 with an advertising and digital marketing background. She loves to focus on sustainability and do things as naturally as possible.
Tina says, “It’s something that we’re surrounded by every day, living in the environment I live in.” It’s a great culture here.
She recalls that when she started her job with AeroGarden, it was a tiny brand with a small, super-scrappy staff.
Tina says, “It felt like we could make something happen.” “I have enjoyed working on different AeroGarden products and getting to know AeroGardeners — people who use AeroGarden, as we call them — the details of how the garden was developed and where it is headed. I’ve also really enjoyed being involved in the AeroGarden community.”
Tina, a keen gardener, has three AeroGardens in her home, including one in her living room, office, and kitchen. Each AeroGarden grows a different plant.
Tina says AeroGarden allows anyone to garden, no matter where they live, their climate, or their home situation. She says, “It is just about accessibility.”
Tina and her husband are home chefs, and Tina got into cooking after the pandemic. They cook a lot together. In their kitchen, they almost always grow herbs like basil, dill, oregano, etc. She says, “It is nice to have them always available.”
She notes that her kitchen does not get enough light to grow herbs in the window. AeroGarden solves this problem.
The AeroGarden grows lettuce and flowers in her living room. Tina remembers that when she started growing lettuce, her daughter, about 3 or 4, would come to the garden with a snack of bits of lettuce. It’s a much better alternative to a candy dish.
Tina grows cactus plants and flowers in her office. The Aerogarden light that she uses is helping them thrive.
